Blast Players Receive Honors
Costa named Player of the Week/Demmin makes Team of the Week

Costa named the A-league Player of the Week

Indiana forward Rodrigo Costa has been named the A-League Player of the Week in week eleven along with making the A-League Team of the Week for the second time this season. Costa was honored for his effort on the road against Charleston June 16. Playing on the league leader's home field, Costa sliced through the Battery defense and scored two goals to lead the Blast to a 3-2 victory, handing the Battery their first home loss of the season.

"I'm very surprised and honored to be named Player of the Week," said Costa. "Being a rookie, I never expected anything like this. I'm happy for the team, this is not an honor just for me."

Costa was the 1997 PDL Rookie of the Year with the Detroit Dynamite leading the league in goals and points, and also the 1998 PDL MVP. He was named to the A-League Team of the Week in week seven earlier this season.

Demmin selected to A-League Team of the Week

Indiana defender Dwyane Demmin has been named to the A-League Team of the Week in week eleven. Demmin received the honors for his hard work at Charleston June 16 when he scored the game winner in the 90th minute.

Indiana held a 2-0 lead before the Battery made a late charge to tie the score at 2-2 with only two minutes remaining. Demmin took a cross in injury time and headed it towards the goal, only to have it knocked out by the Battery goalkeeper. Following his initial shot, Demmin buried the rebound in the back of the net, sealing the upset victory for the Blast.

"I'm very excited, this is my first time making the team," said Demmin. "I worked hard against Charleston, it's nice to see my effort recognized. I feel like I'm getting stronger every game, hopefully things will continue to build from here."

The Indiana Blast return home this Friday, June 22 at 7:35PM against the Cincinnati Riverhawks. White Castle, a proud sponsor of the Indiana Blast and Indiana Blaze, will hold a pre-game tailgate party before the game. The first 300 fans in the gate after 6:35PM will receive two burgers and a Coke.
