Former U17 National Team Coach to Join Center of Excellence


CALGARY, Alberta - Tony Nocita, former A-League player and Canadian National Team member has joined the Calgary Storm’s Center of Excellence as a youth coach.

Tony was a Canadian National Soccer Team Member for seven years, where he captained the 1990 Canadian National Team at the World Indoor Championships in Holland. In addition Tony was the captain of the 1994 A-League Toronto Rockets Soccer Club, and co-captain of the Canadian Soccer League Winnipeg Fury, which won the Mita Cup-CSL Championship in 1992.

In addition to his playing experience, Tony has coached various Provincial teams including the Manitoba Provincial U15 and U17 teams. He served as a staff coach with the U17 National Team in their preparations for CONCACAF qualifications in 2001. In 1997, he was also the Head Coach of the U20 Manitoba Games Soccer Team. Tony is currently the first Vice-President of the Manitoba Soccer Association and volunteered in the Pan American Games in 1999 as Soccer Venue Co-chair.

The Calgary Storm’s Center of Excellence is an elite year round soccer training program for the top 1% of the youth. It develops players for the Storm women’s league, Premier Development League men’s team and professional A-League men’s team.
